A Reflection on the "Day Off"

Having dinner with a colleague recently, we got to talking about how we do
with taking a day off each week. How important is that? How "day offy" is
our day off? What if we just answer a few emails or do a little planning?

We don't want to fall into a legalistic trap where we don't give ourselves
some flexibility. That being said, what if we saw the gift of a sabbath as
an act of love for our congregations, our families, ourselves, and for God?
Maybe it would help some of my inflated ego to die off. Maybe it would open
the door for other people to move forward in service.

This email is an accountability tool. I'm going to try to do a better job
of making a clean break on my day off with the hope that I will be more
energized for the rest of the week.
