3. Text Study times have changed to 12:00 noon
We gather weekly for a text study at
Immanuel Lutheran Church
1710 Moorpark Ave
San Jose, CA 95128
We changed the time from 11:30 am to 12:00 noon to accommodate the change of
schedule of some participants.
Please note: at certain times of the church year attendance tends to go down
a bit,
if you would like to make sure you are not the only one in attendance,
please exchange your cell phone number with at least one other participant.

4. This Sunday at CGS: Movie in combination with the draft statement on
genetics
This Sunday after worship Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran San Jose will
organize a taco lunch and then screen the movie "My Sister's Keeper". The
movie is hosted in conjunction with a Study of the ELCA Draft social
statement on Genetics. All who are interested are more than welcome to join
us. The movie is scheduled to be screened at noon, if you like tacos come
earlier.

Here is a synopsis of "My Sister's Keeper": A former defense attorney
(Cameron Diaz) finds herself back in the courtroom when she and her husband
(Jason Patric) are sued for medical emancipation by their 11-year-old
daughter, Anna (Abigail Breslin), who is expected to donate a kidney to her
dying older sister. The subsequent trial tests ethical boundaries and the
limits of parental love. Joan Cusack and Alec Baldwin round out the cast in
this powerful drama based on Jodi Picoult's novel.

6. Joint Episcopal and Lutheran Ascension Day service:
There will be a joint Episcopal and Lutheran Ascension Day service at
Stanford Memorial Church on May 13th. The Preacher will be Pastor Herb
Chilstrom, first Presiding Bishop of the ELCA, and the Celebrant will be Bp.
Mary Gray-Reeves, third Bishop of the Diocese of El Camino Real. A mass
choir is being assembled and, if your choir is interested in participating,
please have the director contact the Rev. Kemp Segerhamar -
RevKemp@flcpa.org.
