This is hot off the Bishop press, so you all may know what I know.=20



For the first time, we will be utilizing the Guidebook app for making mater=
ials available on line for those who have iPads and tablets. Guidebook has =
been used at Churchwide Assemblies, Youth Gatherings and several other syno=
d=E2=80=99s Assemblies in the past. Materials will still be able to be down=
loaded as PDF files for those who wish to use laptops or to print the mater=
ials. Note: we will have Wi-Fi access in the Assembly Hall in Reno =E2=80=
=93 not something we usually have!=20



The suggestion has been made that we allow time for our =E2=80=9Cnew=E2=80=
=9D conferences to meet during the Assembly. This is a great idea! The Asse=
mbly Planning Team has made room in the agenda for this to happen. On Frida=
y afternoon, we will leave the main meeting room to gather as the five elec=
toral districts to complete the nomination process for Synod Council Member=
s begun last fall. People elected at this year=E2=80=99s Assembly will serv=
e one year terms . We will be electing new Synod Council Members at the 201=
7 Assembly by the new Conference nominating system . After the District Cau=
cuses have concluded, people will then move to nine meeting rooms that will=
 be available for each of the new conferences to gather.=20



Two items of business will be conducted at these meetings; the first being =
an ecclesiastical ballot and election for Dean, whose service will begin on=
 September 1 st . This election will be moderated by current Synod Council =
Members. The second item of discussion/business will be conversations about=
 other leadership needs for the new conference (i.e. Conference Cabinets, T=
reasurers, etc.) and possible names for the conferences, which will be dete=
rmined as the new Conferences gather on September 17 th , the date for this=
 year=E2=80=99s Online Synod Gathering. At the conclusion of the conference=
 gatherings, people may move back towards the Assembly Meeting Room for a r=
eception for Bp. Eaton and Dinner, followed by our Opening Worship Service.=

The New Deans will be installed at the Opening Worship Service of the Assem=
bly on Friday evening, following their election Friday afternoon . Please n=
ote -- your service as Dean will continue until August 31 st .=20
