Subject: [SCVLP] Bowling @ 6:00 Tonight=20

Hello Friends,=20
We have been talking about doing some activities together as churches in ou=
r area. Here is an opportunity to consider at the last minute.=20

Come out to Homestead Bowl at the southeast corner of Homestead and Hollenb=
eck in Sunnyvale for a night of bowling with some of your church family her=
e in the Bay Area. We will meet at the lanes at 6:00 p.m. and bowl in group=
s of six. $10 will cover your bowling and shoes for two hours. Come when yo=
u can and leave when you must. You are welcome to eat ahead of time or you =
can buy food at the bowling alley.=20

Some thoughts for our discussion at the lanes as we approach Fathers' Day:=
=20

How are you like your father, or someone you consider to be a father figure=
?=20

After each person on your team has bowled a full frame have someone read on=
e of the verses from the following devotion and talk with your group about =
what you like about our Heavenly Father.=20

Consider this: Jesus traveled and taught for three years. We have approxima=
tely 25,000 words that Jesus spoke recorded in the Bible. Of those 25,000 w=
ords, Jesus taught about the Father in Heaven at least 181 times.=20

This means 1 out of every 140 words, Jesus was speaking about His Father. H=
is central message and purpose was to restore us to a relationship with our=
 Daddy in Heaven.=20

The following is a compilation of ten favorite verses about our Father in H=
eaven. All but two of them are spoken directly by Jesus Himself. May you ex=
perience His love as you read the truth about your Abba.=20

10. Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in =
barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valua=
ble than they? =E2=80=93Matthew 6:26=20

9. =E2=80=9CWhat do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of th=
em wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to l=
ook for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth=
, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did no=
t wander off . In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that an=
y of these little ones should be lost. =E2=80=93Matthew 18:12-14=20

8. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecti=
ng to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be so=
ns of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked . Be m=
erciful, just as your Father is merciful. =E2=80=93Luke 6:35-36=20

7. =E2=80=9CDo not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been please=
d to give you the kingdom =E2=80=9D . =E2=80=93Luke 12:32=20

6. =E2=80=9CDo not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in=
me. In my Father=E2=80=99s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I woul=
d have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.=E2=80=9D =E2=
=80=93John 14:1-2=20

5. =E2=80=9CNo, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and =
have believed that I came from God. =E2=80=94 John 16:27=20

4. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear , =
but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, =E2=80=9CAbba, F=
ather.=E2=80=9D The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are Go=
d=E2=80=99s children. =E2=80=94 Romans 8:15-16=20

3. =E2=80=9CWhich of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?=
Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you =
are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will =
your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! =E2=80=9D =E2=
=80=94 Matthew 7:9-11=20

2. How great is the love the Father has lavished on us , that we should be =
called children of God! And that is what we are! =E2=80=931 John 3:1=20

And what is the message all of these verses are hammering into our hearts?=
=20

    * You have a daddy who loves you.=20
    * He is strong enough to protect you.=20
    * He is engaged enough to teach you.=20
    * He is tender enough to hug you.=20
    * He is alive enough to play with you.=20

And the Number One verse regarding the love of the Father is this amazing t=
ruth=E2=80=93 no matter how far you have wondered, you can still come home!=
Regarding the prodigal son, Jesus tells us:=20

1. =E2=80=9CWhen he came to his senses, he said=E2=80=A6 =E2=80=9C I will s=
et out and go back to my father=E2=80=9D =E2=80=93Luke 15:17=20
