Hi all!

Last 1st Tuesday, I spoke of a wonderful pastor's guide to =20
counseling troubled marriages. Charles (Chuck) L. Rassieur is =20
retired pastoral counselor and author willing to spend 3 hours with =20
us exploring his book & plan which originated from collaboration with =20
Professor William Smith of Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary, =20
now Luther Seminary, in St. Paul.

I have myself had a chance to explore with Charles his work and have =20
used it with success and great appreciation. As he says, we pastors =20
are often the first to see when a marriage is in trouble and have a =20
special opportunity to respond in ways others cannot.

Chuck has offered to come on a 1st Tuesday for FREE to acquaint us =20
with his work enough for us to feel confident enough to use it. His =20
suggestion based on your input last meeting is that he can come the =20
1st Tuesday in February--February 3, 2009 at a local congregation. =20
We thought we could meet from 11:30-3 (gather for bag lunch & welcome =20
first half hour followed by 3 hr workshop with a break halfway =20
through). We could lengthen workshop to 3:30 if an hour lunch is =20
preferred.

No matter what, this would alter the typical way we do 1st Tuesdays, =20
but it seemed unanimous that this would be the optimal way to get =20
more pastors to attend. (If there are pastors of other conferences or =20
denominations interested in attending, they would be more than =20
welcome. This is a very practical resource for any pastor.)

David Bonde offered Los Altos Lutheran as possible meeting place. =20
Others also shared the possibility of sharing their space for this =20
purpose. Chuck has family here in Cupertino and would not even =20
request mileage if the church is fairly nearby. Is this a good date =20
for any of you to house and attend? Consider it and I'll bring the =20
book as well as announce next Tuesday.

The only other effort would be to get the book, a very handy resource =20
prior to or on day of workshop. If someone were to offer to buy in =20
bulk, the cost would be even cheaper. It's a worthy resource to =20
have. But, so is exploring it as a group especially with its author, =20
prior to its use.

Thx!
