Three oils, all traditionally called Holy Oil (Olea Sancta) are blessed: one (Holy Chrism) used at baptism, and glory of God; one (Oil of the Catechumens) for those preparing for baptism; and one (Oil of the Sick) for the sick and dying. These uses relate to Christ’s death and resurrection and thus make Chrism Mass especially appropriate in Lent and Holy Week. Chrism Mass is also an opportunity for all disciples to renew their calling to their baptismal vocation and other vocations in the life of the Church. The liturgy includes these corporate affirmations as well as opportunities for personal prayer and blessing. | |

During this meeting time, youth leaders from our conference and youth representatives are invited to meet separately (also at St. Luke) to coordinate for the national gathering in July. This will be a great opportunity for students as well as leaders to meet, share ideas, learn about tchotchke handouts, and more. In addition to rostered leaders, congregations are encouraged to send at least 2 voting members to this meeting, preferably those planning to attend Synod Assembly. | |
